General surgery covers surgical treatment of diseases of the digestive system (esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, gallbladder, pancreas), thyroid, breast, hernias, appendicitis, and various intra-abdominal organ diseases.

Laparoscopic surgery offers advantages such as less pain, less blood loss, quicker recovery, shorter hospital stays, and smaller scars due to small incisions.

Women are recommended to perform monthly self-breast examinations starting at age 20, undergo doctor check-ups every 3 years between ages 20-40, and have annual mammogram screenings after age 40.

Post-hernia surgery, the hospital stay is generally 1-2 days. With laparoscopic methods, recovery is faster. Most patients can return to daily activities within 1-2 weeks, but should avoid heavy lifting and strenuous physical activities for 4-6 weeks.

Before thyroid surgery, it is recommended to complete all necessary tests as advised by your doctor, inform your doctor about any medications you are taking, stop taking blood-thinning medications under medical supervision, fast the night before surgery, and stop smoking if you are a smoker.
